Interactive Voting Demonstration
How to Vote on This Machine:
1. After checking in at the polling place, a poll worker will give you a piece of paper with a four digit, randomly generated Access Code, printed out from the Judge’s Booth Controller (JBC).
2. Take the Access Code paper to any available eSlate booth. Using the “Select” wheel and “Enter” button, enter the number into the eSlate device. (As you rotate the Select wheel, you’ll see different portions of the screen light up. When the choice you want to select is highlighted, you will use the Enter button—next to the Select wheel—to select it.)
3. Make your vote choices using the buttons and Select Wheel on the bottom of the eSlate.
4. Some eSlates are equipped with a voter-verifiable paper audit trail printer, called “Verified Ballot Option (VBO).” Check the printout carefully before you cast your vote! If no VBO is available, check the summary screen carefully, and after making any corrections, press the red "Cast Ballot" button at the lower left-hand corner of the eSlate.
5. After you cast a ballot, the poll worker can print off a piece of paper that lists your Access Code number and reads "Assigned and Cast."
REMEMBER: You have the right to ask for assistance from a poll worker during the voting process. If the poll worker is unable to resolve any machine-related problem you might have, do not cast your ballot on the machine. You have a right to vote on a system that is working. If none is available, an alternative – such as an emergency paper ballot – should be provided.
